PERFORMING AT THE SMOKEY ROBINSON: THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS GERSHWIN PRIZE CEREMONY
I am so honoured to be performing for the tribute to Smokey Robinson, the 2016 recipient of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song.
I first met Smokey at the Musicares tribute to Aretha Franklin. I felt someone plant a big kiss on my cheek and it was him ! I admire Smokey Robinson’s poetic writing and adore his beautiful voice. He exemplifies and rare, radical, masculine gentleness which I wish we saw more of in the world. I was so happy to perform “ Ooo baby, baby” which is an incredible song full of emotion.
Watch the ceremony on PBS on February 10, 2017, 9:00-11:00 p.m. ET
